I discovered this gem of a place this weekend after attending for a children's' interactive activity/meet the author event. It's such a lovely welcoming space, where the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. It's the sort of place where you leave feeling wholesome and full of positive energy. I'm looking forward to returning again soon!

I am the author of Black Girl From Pyongyang in Search of my Identity. Carolynn Bain, the owner of Afrori Bookshop, organised two events for this weekend. The first event was the Afrori supper club event, which consists of having dinner with an author she invites and people who sign up. I enjoyed the experience. We enjoyed a really good conversation, atmosphere, and environment while having a dialogue about topics that I argue in the book. Afterwards, I signed the book for supper participants. Carolynn said that normally the dinner starts 7pm and it's finished by 8.30pm. But, we enjoyed and engaged that we all left at 10.30pm. The second event took place at Brighton Jubilee Library. Afrori bookshop is a place that must go for book lovers. It's very spacious, at the same time cosy place that invites you to enjoy a cup of ☕️ that is made with love. Carolynn, Olivia (her daughter), Serena, and Cullen are very warm experts on the book service.

Great ambience...felt like a safe space to browse books by black authors and hang out! Bought a book and ordered another from their website. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Brighton. Recommended to my adult son and to my book club! ????????

In my experience the most welcoming place in Brighton. Great selection of books. Frequent author events and book clubs. The best arts and crafts activities every Saturday. Comfortable sofas and most importantly wonderful people. Child friendly Pet friendly Accessible Great place to relax, read, meet people. You can probably get a cup of tea if you ask nicely.

An inviting and intimate shop conveniently near to Brighton Station. Olivia is friendly and knowledgeable about the world of books; she makes you feel welcome to stay as long as you like. A good selection of books instore, which can also be ordered online. Next time you visit Brighton take some time to visit and relax with books and a cup of tea. I will be back soon.
